Cuban born Carolina Garcia-Aguilera and the cover of her 2010 novel, BLOODY TWIST (published in trade paperback) one of the Lupe Solano Series of books. The author was born in Havana, Cuba in July 1949 and her family emigrated to the U.S. one year after Castro took power.
A former licensed private eye in Miami, Carolina decided, after more than ten years of civil and criminal cases, that she would much prefer writing detective stories to living them.
She has been the recipient of the Flamingo Award in 1999 and the Shamus Award for Best Novel in 2001 for her HAVANA HEAT (c. 2000) novel.
